Austin Peay State University Governors Tennis beats Tennessee State

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team ran its win streak to 13 consecutive matches, taking down Tennessee State twice, Saturday.

The Govs defeated the Tigers 4-0 (non-conference) and 7-0 at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts to continue its stellar 2013 season.

Austin Peay (13-2, 6-0 OVC) continues its march toward a top seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Tennessee State falls to 0-12 (0-7 OVC).

Junior Jasmin Ademovic and sophomore Dimitar Ristovski each picked up two singles victories, Saturday. Ademovic started the day at No. 1 singles in the non-conference tilt, defeating Daniel Bernal 6-3, 6-1 before moving to No. 2 singles to beat William Simmons (6-1, 6-0) in conference play. Ristovski played No. 2 in the non-conference match, defeating Simmons, 6-0, 6-1, and defeating Jared Asher, 6-0, 6-2, in the afternoon match.

Sophomore Aleksas Tverijonas remains undefeated during the spring season; he sat out the non-conference match before defeating Branden McClain, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles, Saturday afternoon.

Seniors John Storie and Sean Bailey each netted one win, with Storie emerging victorious at No. 3 singles in the non-conference match against Asher (6-0, 6-0). Bailey, in his customary No. 1 position, defeated Bernal, 6-1, 6-1, in conference play.

Freshman Evan Borowski got the Govs other singles victory, defeating McClain 6-1, 3-0 (ret.).

In conference action, Bailey and Ademovic defeated Bernal and McClain, 8-1, at No. 1 singles, while Ristovski and Iago Seffrin defeated Simmons and Asher, 8-0, at No. 2.

The Govs host Belmont, 2:00pm, Sunday, at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.
