Austin Peay moves to 14-2 on the season, and continues its perfect conference season by moving to 7-0 against OVC foes. Belmont falls to 5-13, evening its record at 4-4 in OVC play.

“We’re seeing where we stack up against the rest of the OVC and we’re doing very well,” said head coach Ross Brown. “We feel like we’re in good position right now.”

Shuffling around its top lines, junior Jasmin Ademovic played No. 1 against Renato Antun, pulling off a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Senior Sean Bailey faced former Gov Henrique Norbiato at No. 2, earning a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win.

The streaks continued for sophomores Dimitar Ristovski and Aleksas Tverijonas, who won their 14th and 15th consecutive matches, respectively. Ristovski defeated Fernando Mussolini in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, while Tverijonas remained undefeated with a 6-1, 6-4, No. 4 singles victory over Bruno Silva.

Sophomore Iago Seffrin took the Govs other singles victory, defeating Henrik Claesson, 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Seffrin and Ristovski won No. 2 doubles, 8-1, against Mussolini and Navarro Veys. Senior John Storie and Tverijonas were victorious at No. 3 doubles, with an 8-5 win against Silva and Claesson.

The Govs close out conference play next weekend, hosting Tennessee Tech (1:00pm, April 13th) and Jacksonville State (2:00pm, April 14th) in Clarksville.

“It’s good for us to play two tough matches right before conference tournament,” Brown said. “We’re right in the mix at the end, which is where you want to be.”
