Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center gets new Cannon

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the latest addition to the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center.

The siege carriage for the previously unmounted 24-pound cannon has arrived and the complete cannon is now on display and open to public viewing.

This is just the first phase of an ongoing project. Plans are being developed to someday mount the gun inside the Fort in one of the original firing positions. In 1861, two of these 24-pound cannons would have been stationed at Fort Sevier/Fort Defiance.

This project has been a cooperative effort between the Clarksville-Montgomery County CW150 Commission and the City of Clarksville.
