Clarksville Police report Man tries to Sell Police Officer a Stolen Motorcycle

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On April 11th, 2013 at 12:57am, Clarksville Police Officer Justin Steward (4160) responded to a possible domestic in progress at 407 Klines Alley, Apt. B.

While investigating the domestic situation, Officer Steward saw a black 2003 Honda CBR motorcycle in the driveway with no tag attached to it. This peaked his interest due to the large amount of stolen motorcycles.

Another officer on the scene, Officer William Gilboy, casually mentioned to Michael Benjamson how nice the motorcycle was, at which time, Benjamson said that the motorcycle belonged to him. He also offered to sell the motorcycle to Officer Gilboy for $900.00.

Officers noticed the vehicle identification number had been scratched out and not legible. But, they located the number in another location and determined the motorcycle was stolen.

Detective Debra Kolofsky was called out to take over the investigation. During the interview, there were inconsistencies in information given to the detective, and also how motorcycle came in  Benjamson’s possession.
