Rivers and Spires Festival fights chilly weather on second day of festival

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The second day of the Rivers and Spires Festival opened with an unseasonable chill in the air, but that didn’t stop the crowds for coming out for the second day of this wonderful three day festival held in Historic Downtown Clarksville Tennessee.

On the first day of the 2013 Rivers and Spires Festival I concentrated mostly on the musical entertainment, today I engaged in one of the most popular activities at the festival, people watching!

I roamed up throughout the downtown area, from time to time stopping to just stand and watch the flow of people passing by.

On Franklin Street I visited with Bill Roberts of Bill Roberts Thunder Road Automotive and Marine, who also shares my interest in people watching. I watch for things which stand out and thus attracts my attention. Things like interesting costumes, colorful characters, or interesting hats.

Across the street were the booths for festival sponsors Austin Peay State University, Miller Motte Technical College, Daymar Institute, and signature sponsor Agero. Miller Motte was also one of the sponsors of the Clarksville’s Got Talent competition at the Courthouse Stage, where I got the opportunity to see the talented magician Russ Nowack perform once again.

I did get to a couple of the musical events including Yesterday, the Beatles Cover band; and Who’s Bad – Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band both were outstanding.

Rivers and Spires continues on Saturday starting at 10:00am and runs through 8:00pm. The evening closes out with a performance by country music superstar JoDee Messina beginning at 7:00pm on the Public Square Stage.
