Tennessee Titans select UT Vols wide receiver Justin Hunter in the second round, 34th overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft

Tennessee TitansJustin HunterNashville, TN – In the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Tennesee Titans move up to the 2nd pick (34th overall), from the Chiefs through the 49ers, to grab Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Justin Hunter.

Hunter becomes the 332nd Tennessee product selected in the NFL Draft, and the 29th to be taken in the second round.

Hunter was fourth in SEC in catches per game (6.1), 37th in NCAA in 2012. He led the Vols with 73 catches for 1,083 yards and nine receiving touchdowns.

The 6-foot-4, 200 pound Hunter was consider my most to have first round potential. He can get separation from defenders and runs smooth routes.

In the NFL Combine, he ran 4.44 seconds in the 40 yard dash, had a 39.5 inch vertical leap, did a 136 inch broad jump, and did 4.33 seconds in the 20 yard shuttle. Hunter went to Ocean Lakes High School. Virginia Beach, VA is his hometown.

Hunter joins fellow Vol Cordarrelle Patterson, a first-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings, as selections in 2013. Hunter is the 32nd Tennessee receiver selected in an NFL Draft.

In 2012 he as select to the Coaches All-SEC Second Team, CBSSports.com All-SEC Team, Associated Press All-SEC Second Team and the Pro Football Weekly All-American.

Hunter, led the Vols and finished third in the SEC with 73 catches for 1,083 yards. His total for catches ranked second-most in a season in Tennessee history and his yardage total was third all-time in a season. Hunter scored nine receiving touchdowns, including a school-record tying three TDs in two different games this season.

He scored three touchdowns against both Georgia State and Troy. Hunter had four 100-yard receiving games as a junior including a career-high 181 vs. Troy. He became the eighth Vol with a 1,000-yard receiving season.

On the single-season receptions list, Hunter had second-best season with 73 catches, the record is 76 by Marcus Nash in 1997. With eight 100-yard receiving games, he is tied for third-most in a career in Tennessee history (record 15, J.Kent). He had 18 career receiving touchdowns, tying him for fifth-most in a career at UT.
