Fort Campbell’s Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs’ June Schedule

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – Finally it’s June!  Let Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs help you find something fun to do. They’ll start the month off with a Wilderness First Aid Class on June 1st and 2nd from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Wilderness Medicine Institute provides the highest quality education and information for the recognition, treatment and prevention of wilderness emergencies. This hands-on training will provide you with the skills and tools to make difficult medical decisions in remote settings.

The cost for this class is $200.00 and you must be age 16 or over to participate.

Join Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs for an open house on June 8th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Get a look at their new Adventure Programs facility; do some free climbing on their new indoor wall; and enjoy complimentary refreshments while you’re there.

Take a Caney Fork Kayak Trip with them on June 9th from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Age 10 and over are invited to participate. The Caney Fork flows 144 miles from Cumberland County before reaching the Cumberland River. The Caney Fork is a Class 1 river with world class trout fishing.

Let Outdoor Recreation help you enjoy a wonderful day on the river paddling a sit-on-top kayak. Don’t forget your fishing license and trout stamp if you choose to fish. You will be floating five to eight miles so please remember to bring plenty of sun block, food and water. The cost for this trip is $25.00 and includes transportation and equipment. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm. on June 7th.

On June 13th they will be offering Women’s Kayaking 101 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The cost for this clinic is $10.00 and you must be age 18 or above to participate. Come out and learn a new skill or brush up on an old one while interacting with other adventure seeking women. Kayaking 101 will focus on instruction of basic kayak skills.  All equipment will be provided.  Please pack snacks, plenty of water and sunscreen. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on June 11th.

Located in the hills of Southeast Tennessee, Foster Falls Small Wild Area is managed by TVA and named after a stunning 60 foot waterfall. With cool clean pools, this area is a great place to take a swim after spending the afternoon hiking the Fiery Gizzard Trail that connects Foster Falls to Grundy Forest. Join Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs as they take a Foster Falls Day Hike on June 15th from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Ages 14 and up may participate and the cost is $25.00, which includes transportation. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on June 13th.

On June 15th, you can take what you learned in Kayaking 101 and hit the river. (You are welcome to join them for Kayaking 102 even if you didn’t attend Kayaking 101.) This trip will last from 8:30am to 12:30pm and the cost is $18.00. You must be at least 18 years old to participate and preregistration is required by 4:00pm. on June 13th.

Join Outdoor Recreation for a Family Floats canoe trip on June 20th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Located in downtown Clarksville, the Cumberland River is a great location to spend the afternoon canoeing.  Ages 6 and over may participate. The cost is $15.00 and includes transportation and equipment. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on June 18th.

Ages 18 and over are invited to go Sky Diving on June 22nd. The cost is $160.00 and this includes your transportation. The trip will leave at 7:00am and is scheduled to return around 3:00pm. However, return time may be extended due to weather or delayed jumping. Due to tandem jumps, participant’s weight must not exceed 250 pounds.  Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on June 12th.

On June 23rd you can join Outdoor Rec. for a Lock Four Mountain Biking trip. Ages 14 and over may participate and the cost is $25.00 which includes transportation, a bike and helmet. Located in Gallatin, TN, Lock Four is one of the best mountain biking destinations in the Nashville area. With over eight miles of exciting single track on Old Hickory Lake, Lock Four has something to offer cyclists of all levels of experience.  Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on June 21st.

If you’re interested in learning how to climb, join Outdoor Rec. from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on June 27th for Climbing 101. This climbing clinic will offer an introduction to the exciting sport of climbing. Instruction will cover equipment, belay, safety precautions, as well as technique. The cost is $10.00 and includes equipment and instruction on the newly constructed indoor rock wall. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on June 25th.  Ages 12 and up may participate.

Ages 14 and over are invited to Whitewater Raft the Middle Ocoee on June 29th. The cost is $85.00 and this includes your transportation and all rafting equipment. The trip will leave at 7:00am and is scheduled to return around 9:00pm. The Ocoee River, home to the 1996 US Olympics, is one of the most well known destinations in the whitewater industry. You will paddle a five plus-mile, class III-IV section of the Ocoee.  Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on June 19th.
