Red Cross Partnering with Bobby Bones Show for Celebrity Auction

Country Music Stars Donate Signed Guitars and More for Public Auction; All Proceeds to Benefit American Red Cross Disaster Relief

American Red CrossNashville, TN – After devastating tornadoes tore through the town of Moore, Oklahoma, Premiere Networks’ The Bobby Bones Show reached out to its’ friends on Music Row for help.

Country music’s biggest stars including: Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, The Band Perry and many more, stopped by the Nashville studio, called in to offer their support, perform songs to inspire listeners or to donate personal items, concert tickets, signed memorabilia and more.

“The outpouring of support from the Country music community has been amazing.” Bobby Bones said. “This is yet another great example of Country music banding together to help those in need. The generosity, quick reaction and gathering of resources by the artists and music labels is truly remarkable and we can’t begin to thank them enough.”

The Bobby Bones Show has launched an online auction of the donated items on eBay.com with all proceeds benefitting American Red Cross Disaster Relief. The public can view and bid for the auction items here:  www.ebay.com/bobbybones

In addition to the auction items, more than $15,000 has been donated by record labels. Tracy Lawrence — who grew up in tornado alley — announced on the show he would record a special mix of his song “Butterfly People” exclusively to Nashville’s WSIX The Big 98 for free download in an effort to encourage donations and show support.

Since Monday, the Red Cross has opened ten emergency aid stations where people can come to get food, relief supplies, health and mental health care and information about what other help is available.

In addition, meals are available at feeding sites and being distributed throughout the community, along with relief supplies.  Five Red Cross and community shelters are open in Oklahoma following tornadoes over the past week, and more than 370 people spent Wednesday night in those shelters.

The Red Cross has also:

  • Provided more than 24,000 meals working with its partner, the Southern Baptist Convention.
  • Distributed more than 5,000 relief items including personal toiletries and recovery items like coolers, buckets, gloves, dust masks, trash bags, flashlights, tarps, shovels, rakes and blankets.
  • Provided dozens of health and mental health contacts. Health services volunteers are working with the Medical Reserve Corps to visit the injured in local hospitals and helping people replace prescriptions and other medical items at emergency aid stations. Mental health workers are providing emotional support in shelters and emergency aid stations.
  • Mobilized more than 350 Red Cross workers from all over the country to help the people in Oklahoma.
  • Deployed 41 Red Cross emergency response vehicles to distribute food and relief supplies throughout neighborhoods.
  • Helped comfort those affected through its spiritual care teams.
