Nashville, TN – Despite erasing a two-run deficit late in the game, the Nashville Sounds lost 7-4 to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Memorial Day at Greer Stadium. The loss gives Albuquerque the 3-1 series win.
After the Sounds tied it up 4-4 in the seventh, the visiting team quickly recaptured the lead with a three-run double from Alfredo Amezaga in the top of the ninth. Albuquerque used a fielder’s choice and two hits off reliever Tim Dillard (0-1) to set the table for Amezaga’s game-winning hit.

Clarksville, TN – Once again we are gathered at this wall as we have been for several years, to offer our respect and prayers for those whose names are written upon it.
Many see this wall as a “thing” made by someone to be brought out each year, displayed, and then put away in some dusty place, to await the next time it is to be put on display.
This wall is, in fact, a man-made object, but it is not just a thing. It is much much more. This wall represents the very hearts, souls, and spirits of those who are named upon it.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Leads Joint Effort Aimed at Promoting Use of Fully Developed Claims
Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and The American Legion recently announced a new partnership to help reduce the compensation claims backlog for Veterans. The effort—the Fully Developed Claims (FDC) Community of Practice—is a key part of VA’s overall transformation plan to end the backlog in 2015 and process claims within 125 days at 98% accuracy. VA can process FDCs in half the time it takes for a traditionally filed claim.
“VA prides itself on our ongoing partnership with organizations that represent Veterans throughout the claims process,” said Undersecretary for Benefits Allison A. Hickey. “A Fully Developed Claim is the most effective way to ensure a Veteran’s claim never reaches the backlog—and is the basis for this new initiative between VA and what we expect will be an ever-increasing number of Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) and others who represent Veterans at various points of the claims process. ” «Read the rest of this article»

Jekyll Island, GA – Once almost exclusively a staple of Southern cuisine, grits have made their way from the family breakfast table to the lunch and dinner menus of some of the nation’s finest restaurants.
“For generations, grits have provided daily nourishment through good times and bad -but almost exclusively served in the deep South,” said Linda Carman, baking expert for Martha White®, the makers of Jim Dandy® Grits. “Now, thanks in large part to young creative lowcountry chefs who appreciate their culinary roots, grits have become trendy across the country and served for breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
