Nashville Sounds lose 6-2 at Greer Stadium to Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Iowa left-hander Chris Rusin held the Nashville offense in check and the Cubs belted a pair of homers in a 6-2 victory over the Sounds on Tuesday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.

Rusin (4-4), who retired 13 consecutive batters at one point, allowed one run on six hits over a season-high eight innings to pick up the victory. The southpaw struck out eight batters and threw 72 of his 97 pitches for strike on the night.

APSU Golf’s Dustin Korte struggles during First Day of NCAA Golf Championship

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsWoodstock, GA – When his first two shots landed in sand Dustin Korte should have known it was going to be that kind of day.

The Austin Peay State University senior, playing as an individual in the first round of the NCAA Golf Championship, bogeyed the first hole and then went onto finish at a 5-over 75 in Day 1 of the tournament, being played at the Capital City Crabapple Course.

Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency builds Storm Shelter Registry

Clarksville Police respond to accident on Madison Street

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On May 28th, 2013, at approximately 2:15pm, Clarksville Police Officers responded to an injury accident in the area of 2355 Madison Street.

City of Clarksville sets times for City Council to Vote on 2014 Budget

Vietnam Veterans of America Memorial Day Candle Light Vigil

 

Clarksville, TN – It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not. No remains were returned during the previous year, that leaves 30 remaining missing POW/MIA’s from the State of Tennessee. Each one was honored in a ceremony held in front of the William O. Beach Civic Center at Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee on Sunday evening.

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 396 holds this Memorial Day Vigil each year to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces left that country in 1975.

Fort Defiance to host Civil War Summer Camp

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, is proud to host the City’s first Civil War Summer Camp for youth in the 5th and 6th grades.

The Civil War Summer Camp, instructed by Karel Biggs, focuses on the American Civil War.  Students will learn more about the people, events, vocabulary, songs, food, drills, clothing and flags associated with the War.

Rivers and Spires Festival names Kenwood High School Students ‘Volunteers of the Year’

 

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The Rivers and Spires Festival is pleased to recognize Kenwood High School as the Clarksville-Montgomery County School with the most student volunteers working at the 2013 Festival.

The students were presented with a trophy and certificate recognizing their commitment to the community-driven event. The school boasted 34 volunteers this year, ten more than the second place school, with several of them coming from their JROTC program.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park to show Les Miserables this Saturday

 

Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation this Saturday, June 1st, at Heritage Park soccer fields for this month’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the hit movie, “Les Miserables,” which is rated PG-13.

Les Miserables takes place in 19th century France where Jean Valjean breaks parole and is hunted by policeman Javert. Later he agrees to take care of factory worker Fantine’s daughter, Cosette. That decision changes their lives forever.

“Operation Boomer Sooner” to help Oklahoma Tornado Victims

 

Operation Boomer SoonerClarksville, TN – With the recent tragedies and damages associated with tornados in Oklahoma, a group of Clarksvillians have come together to provide aid to the victims. This group has coined their effort “Operation Boomer Sooner”.
