APSU Women’s Golf earns Public Recognition Award from NCAA for APR Score

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team has earned a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA today, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR).

These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent plus ties in each sport.

The Lady Govs’ golf team had a perfect 1000 APR multi-year score in 2013. Each year, the NCAA tracks the classroom performance of student-athletes on every Division I team through the annual scorecard of academic achievement, known as APR.

The rate measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear picture of the academic performance in each sport. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-2012 academic years.

“It has always been our team philosophy to put academics first,” Lady Govs golf coach Sara Robson said. “I am so proud of the hard work our girls do to ensure success in the classroom, and make graduating in a timely matter a priority. These ladies have an amazing work ethic on and off the course. They are great examples of what it means to be ‘student’ athletes.”

Full APRs for all teams, including access to postseason play and penalties for low-performing teams, will be released by the NCAA on June 11th.
