Des Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds twice pulled to within one run of the Iowa Cubs Thursday night at Principal Park, but never got over the hump, losing by the final score of 6-4.
Sounds pitcher Frankie De La Cruz (1-7), in his first start since May 24th, allowed a quick 3-0 lead to the Cubs in the first inning. With runners on first and second, infielder Junior Lake pushed a single past a diving Blake Davis to score Iowa’s first run. Shortstop Donnie Murphy, 3-for-3, followed with a double down the right-field line to plate two more runs.
Tennessee Department of Transportation Maintenance Work for Montgomery County area starting June 21st, 2013
Nashville, TN – In Montgomery County, the Tennessee Department of Transporation (TDOT) will be doing resurfacing and bridge deck repair on I-24 from SR 76 to the Robertson County Line.

Alexa Rippy wins Hank Miles Junior City Am in Playoff; Hunter Richardson wins boys title by four strokes
Clarksville, TN – Trevecca University signee Alexa Rippy outlasted Anna Michelle Moore in a playoff to win the girls title at the 2013 Hank Miles Junior City Amateur, which was held at Swan Lake Golf Course, while Hunter Richardson took home the boys title by four strokes.
Nashville, TN – Rising sophomore Korey Smith, of the Austin Peay State University men’s golf team, has qualified for the USGA Public Links Championship.
Smith shot a 36-hole 140 total (70-70), at the Harpeth Hills Golf Course, shooting four under-par to place second out of 40 competitors in the June 18th event.
Fort Campbell, KY – The Fort Campbell Warrior Transition Battalion is now the proud home of a Korean War era OH-23 Raven medical evacuation helicopter. WTB leadership, along with the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital commander and 101st Airborne Division leaders, dedicated the aircraft display at a ceremony in its new home at the WTB Complex today.
During the ceremony, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell Senior Mission Commander Brig. Gen. Mark R. Stammer recognized all of the men and women within the WTB, honoring them for their dedication to healing, overcoming personal obstacles and transitioning either back to their units or into the civilian world as honored veterans.
