Fort Campbell Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs for July, 2013

Fort Campbell's Morale, Welfare and Recreation - MWRFort Campbell, KY – Join Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programs for hiking, canoeing, climbing, caving, rafting and camping this month!

They’ll start the month off with a Fall Creek Falls Day Hike on July 6th from 8:00am to 6:00pm. You must be age 10 or over to participate and the cost is $25.00 which includes transportation.  This is a moderate hiking trip to view the largest water fall in the eastern U.S. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on July 3rd.

Are you interested in learning how to rock climb?  Join Outdoor Recreation on July 11th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm for Climbing 101. This clinic will cover equipment, belay instruction, safety precautions, as well as technique. The cost is $10.00 and you must be at least 12 years old to participate. Outdoor Rec will provide all equipment needed. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on July 9th.

Take a Wild Cave Tour on July 13th from 9:00am to 5:00pm. This trip will visit Cumberland Cavern’s Rocky Topper Adventure Tour and has something to offer beginners as well as the most experienced cavers. Also known as the Gypsum Crawl, the Rocky Topper tour takes you through passages like Devil’s Quarry and the Lemon Squeeze. The cost is $50.00 which includes your transportation and you must preregister by 4:00pm on July 11th.

Beat the heat with as they head to Mammoth Cave for a relaxing kayak trip down the Green River on July 14th from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Ages 10 and over are invited to participate. This eight mile trip will take you through Mammoth Cave National Park down one of Kentucky’s most scenic and biologically diverse rivers. You will begin your trip at the Dennison Ferry and take out at the Green River Ferry. Please remember to bring plenty of sun block, food and water. The cost for this trip is $25.00 and includes transportation and equipment. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on July 12th.

On July 16th they will be offering Women’s Climbing 101 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The cost for this clinic is $10.00 and you must be age 18 or above to participate. Come out and learn a new skill or brush up on an old one while interacting with other adventure seeking women. Climbing 101 will focus on equipment, belay instruction, safety precautions, as well as technique. All equipment will be provided. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on July 14th.

With over 700,000 acres and over 300 miles of undeveloped shore line, Land Between the Lakes is the perfect summer getaway. Join Outdoor Rec for this LBL Family Camping Weekend on July 20th-21st. The cost is $19.00 per person. Outdoor Recreation will provide canoes, kayaks, bikes, dinner and breakfast. Fishing is allowed but make sure you obtain the proper licenses from the Outdoor Recreation main office prior to departure. Please bring your own tent and any additional personal items you may need for the trip. You will leave a 9:00am on July 20th and return at noon on July 21st. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on July 17th.

Join Outdoor Recreation for a Family Floats canoe trip on July 24th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Located in downtown Clarksville, the Cumberland River is a great location to spend the afternoon canoeing.  Ages 6 and over may participate. The cost is $15.00 and includes transportation and equipment. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on July 22nd.

Ages 14 and over are invited to Whitewater Raft the Middle Ocoee on July 27th. The cost is $85.00 and this includes your transportation and all rafting equipment. The trip will leave at 7:00am and is scheduled to return around 9:00pm. The Ocoee River, home to the 1996 US Olympics, is one of the most well known destinations in the whitewater industry. You will paddle a five plus-mile, class III-IV section of the Ocoee. Preregistration is required by 4:00pm on July 17th.
