Clarksville’s Madison Street has two lanes closed due to Pavement Collapse

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTClarksville, TN – There is a pavement collapse in front of Whitt’s Barbecue at 2206 Madison Street, 41A South, directly across the street from the Clarksville Gas and Water Department.

The two south bound lanes on the road are closed. Traffic is being directed into the turning lane to bypass the blocked area.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has determined that it was not caused by a sinkhole but was  the result of a leaky storm drain undermining the pavement.

“TDOT crews will have an emergency patch completed today reopening the road,” said Will Oliver, Tennessee Department of Transportation Maintenance Supervisor for District 33.

“The full repair would then be put out for bid in a couple of weeks,” stated Oliver. “Once the bid is awarded the full repair would be scheduled.”

Clarksville Online will have updated information as it becomes available.
