Nashville Sounds lose Friday Night 6-1 to Omaha Storm Chasers

 

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – Omaha left-hander Chris Dwyer continued his dominance of the Sounds, leading the Storm Chasers to a 6-1 victory over Nashville on Friday evening at Werner Park in the opener of a four-game series.

Dwyer (4-8) hurled his fourth quality start in four outings against the Sounds this season, allowing one run on three hits while striking out eight batters in seven strong inning of work. In his four outings against Nashville this year, he went 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA (5er/27.2ip). Dwyer is 3-8 with a 3.91 mark versus the remainder of the PCL (40er/92.0ip).

AT&T Expands Nation’s Largest 4G Network to Palmyra Tennessee

 

New Cell Sites Activated as Part of Ongoing AT&T Investment in Local Wireless Network

AT&TPalmyra, TN – The nation’s largest 4G network just got larger for customers in Palmyra, TN. AT&T has activated two new 4G mobile Internet cell sites in Palmyra that will enhance coverage for area residents and businesses and provide speeds up to four times faster than 3G.**

“I applaud AT&T for investing in Palmyra,” said Senator Mark Green. “A stronger wireless network is critical for economic growth.  This investment is important, and we look forward to more good news in the future.”

APSU Govs Tennis, Lady Govs Volleyball earn Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Awards

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball and men’s tennis teams were recognized for their achievement in the classroom last season, each earning their respective Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Achievement Award, July 25th.

The Team Academic Achievement Awards, which were first awarded in 2004-05, are presented annually in each conference-sponsored sport to the team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.25 grade-point average during the academic year.

APSU Student Athletes claim 19 Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor Recipients

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsBrentwood, TN — Austin Peay State University saw 92 student-athletes recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference as part of its annual academic achievement awards, July 25th.

The OVC annually recognizes those student-athletes who excel in the classroom. The league’s Medal of Honor recognizes those student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average in their conference-sponsored sport.

Fort Campbell’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team holds Change of Command

 

2nd Brigade Combat Team - StrikeFort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The 2nd Brigade Combat Teamheld a change of command ceremony On Monday July 22nd, to honor the outgoing battalion commander, Col. Daniel R. Walrath, and to recognize the incoming Commander Col. Pete Benchoff before the entire Brigade.

Colonel Benchoff has had several previous assignments at Fort Campbell including a stint in 2009 as the commander of the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, and as the Assistant Chief of Staff for 101st Airborne Division.
