Scott J. Brown Ph.D., Chief Economist Raymond James Investment ServicesThe economic data reports were mixed. Existing home sales fell slightly in July. New home sales jumped 8.3% (although figures for the two previous months were revised lower and the July increase was not statistically different from zero). A measure of manufacturing activity in China weakened in July, but the same measure for the euro area was about flat.

Next week, no changes are expected from the Federal Open Market Committee, but investors will be sensitive to any changes in the wording of the policy statement. Future Fed policy decisions will be driven by the economic data (or more precisely, the implications that the data will have for the economic outlook). «Read the rest of this article»

APSU Governors Football announces coaching promotions

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – With Austin Peay State University football set to open camp this weekend, new head coach Kirby Cannon has announced two promotions within his staff.

Longtime defensive coordinator Granville Eastman now has the title of assistant head coach while Marcus Gildersleeve, who has been an offensive assistant for the past seven seasons, now will hold the title of offensive coordinator.

Clarksville Police Department Stakeout Operation leads to Burglary Arrest

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On Monday July 29th, 2013, Officers from District 1 of the Clarksville Police Department used Officers in plain clothes to stakeout Mimi Storage businesses in the north Clarksville area.

At around 1:00am Officer John Matos, who had ACE Mini Storage (519 Lafayette Road) under surveillance, observed a suspect with a large pry bar attempting to burglarize a storage unit.

Tennessee Titans Roster will have several new faces in 2013

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – During the offseason, Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster oversaw the reconstruction of the roster, adding key pieces through free agency and the draft.

In late February, the Titans signed former Buffalo Bills safety George Wilson. In mid-March, Webster moved quickly once the unrestricted free agent signing period was underway, inking guard Andy Levitre (Buffalo), running back Shonn Greene (New York Jets), tight end Delanie Walker (San Francisco 49ers), linebacker Moise Fokou (Indianapolis Colts) and defensive tackle Sammie Hill (Detroit Lions) within 24 hours.
