The AVCA Team Academic Award was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year to honor collegiate and high school volleyball teams displaying excellence in the classroom. Teams are recognized by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. It is the third time since 2000 an Austin Peay volleyball team has been recognized, joining the 2001-02 and 2003-04 squads.

The award follows the Lady Govs receiving the Ohio Valley Conference’s Team Academic Achievement Award in July. Nine Lady Govs student-athletes posted a 3.25 GPA last season: April Adams, Cami Fields, Calyn Hull, Liz Landon, Aubrey Marsellis, Hillary Plybon, Alex Sain, Jada Stotts and Samantha Strother.

“I am very proud of the work this team has done in the classroom,” said Lady Govs head coach Taylor Mott. “They continue to strive for excellence both in the classroom and on the court.”

The 2013-14 Austin Peay volleyball team will return to campus, Sunday, with meetings and their first organized practice scheduled Monday.
