The Wonderful Wizard of Oz explores science, art and history through the pages of the literary classic written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W.W. Denslow.

The Customs House Museum is the only museum in Tennessee and the immediate region to present this experience to its 35,000 annual visitors.

Designed to engage and challenge guests to step into reading, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz invites visitors into large pop-up book pages that frame each section of this exhibit. Visitors learn through play with brain teaser games, role playing, dress-up, and other educational activities incorporated throughout.

Also on display will be a variety of Wizard of Oz memorabilia from the collection of John Olson, including Madame Alexander dolls, original scripts, books, autographs, and more.

“Planters Bank has always been a dedicated supporter of the Customs House, along with the arts in general in the markets we serve,” says Elizabeth McCoy, President/CEO of Planters Bank. “We’re honored and excited to have the opportunity to bring this magnificent exhibit to Clarksville. It will be a delight for all ages!”

This exhibit involves 11 sections, or “chapters,” each addressing a different element of the story, such as Dorothy’s House, Tornado, Emerald City, and Glinda’s Castle. Opportunities to sponsor these nodes as a Chapter Sponsor are still available.

For more information on sponsorship, contact Director Alan Robison at 931.648.5780.
