APSU Governors Tennis concludes ITA All-American Championships

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Junior Aleksas Tverijonas advanced to the third round of Pre-Qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, Sunday, bowing out as the furthest-advancing of the Austin Peay State University trio.

The Lithuanian-born Tverijonas, who received a bye into the second round, defeated South Florida’s Everth Dzib, 6-3, 7-5, to advance to the third round. However, he ran into 30th-seeded Facundo Lugones of Texas Christian, who handed Tverijonas a 6-0, 6-4 defeat to end his run at the Championships.

Elsewhere on Sunday, senior Jasmin Ademovic and junior Dimitar Ristovski each won their bonus matches after being eliminated from the pre-qualifying draw. Ademovic defeated UC Irvine’s Ryan Cheung (1-6, 6-1, 6-0), while Ristovski handed Cheung’s teammate, Jonathan Hammel, a 6-1, 6-1 defeat.

The Govs are scheduled to conclude their fall action at the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, October 11th-15th in Knoxville, Tennessee.
