Manchester, TN – Clarksville Academy senior Anna Michelle Moore sit in a tie for fourth place, five shots back, after the first round of the 2013 TSSAA Class A-AA State Golf Championships, October 1st at the WillowBrook Golf Club.
Moore, who is making her fourth straight appearance in the state championship and third straight for Clarksville Academy, shot a six-over par 78 and is tied with Knoxville Grace’s Blythe Scrivner – five shots back of the leader Sophia Schubert from Christian Academy of Knoxville.
The round started off slowly for Moore, as she carded bogies on six of her first eight holes, but she rallied to play the final 10 holes at even par – including her lone birdie of the day on the par-4 10th hole.Moore’s teammate, sophomore Bailey Foote, struggled all day in her opening round and finishing with 94 and is tied for 29th place after the first 18 holes of play.
In the team standings, the pair combined for a 172 total – good for sixth place, 16 shots back of the leader Sullivan South High School and its total of 156.
The tournament concludes October 2nd, with Moore teeing off at 8:30am and Foote at 8:40am, both from hole one.
