Clarksville Police Scam Alert, Targeting Seniors/Medicare Cards

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Friday, October 3th, 2013, the Clarksville Police Department responded to a phone scam targeting senior citizens.

The caller advised he was replacing Medicare cards with new ones, and needed to verify the individual’s social security number, bank name, and account information.  One family received two calls within 30 minutes of each other, advising the same thing.

The complainant advised the caller had a thick foreign accent and said he would be sending a new Medicare Card.

The caller added that the complainant would need to show the new card with her old card for future appointments, but that he needed to verify her SSN, bank name and account information to process the new card.

No personal information was given by the complainant.
