Abriella Argueta scores 5 in Northeast High School Lady Eagles Senior Night Win over Kenwood Lady Knights, 10-0

Northeast High School EaglesKenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – It was cool on senior night at Northeast High School Tuesday. Students, parents and fans of the Northeast Lady Eagles soccer team wore their navy blue sweatshirts and could see their

breath as they cheered for their team from cold aluminum bleachers.

The chilly fans had a lot to cheer about as they watched Lady Eagle senior, Abriella Argueta, score five goals in the Lady Eagles home victory over the Kenwood Lady Knights, 10-0.

From the initial kickoff, the Lady Eagles controlled the ball throughout the game. The Lady Knights spent the game chasing the ball and Lady Eagles as they made frequent offensive attacks.

The Lady Eagles made 30 shots on goal, 12 corner kicks and one penalty kick. The Lady Knights made only 2 shots on goal.

“Our girls played very well tonight,“ Lady Eagles head coach Richard Frost said. “We came off a tough loss against CHS late last week, a well hard fought match. To come out tonight and be able to score 10 goals sets the pace for this Thursday. I am very proud of them.”

Argueta led the offensive charge with dynamic dribbling through multiple Lady Knights defenders and laser-like shots on goal. She made three goals in the first half. Then added two more before sitting down midway through the second half.

Lady Knights goalkeeper, Kylie Logue, did her best to stop Arguetta and the rest of the Lady Eagles front line. But with her team unable to establish any possession, she was bombarded with shot attempts. Logue finished the game with 12 saves.

The Lady Eagles made two shots on goal within the first two minutes of the game. Sarah Zirkle dribbled up the middle just ahead of a Lady Knights defender, then kicked a ball from 20-yards out that zipped by the Lady Knights back line and bounced over the outstretched hands of the diving Logue, on the second shot, for the Lady Eagles first goal.

Argueta made her first goal of the night in the 21st minute of the first half. She used fancy footwork to split two defenders and then found the corner of the net from 15 yards out.

Just over two minutes later, Argueta dribbled her way to the middle of the field only 5 yards from the front of the net and beat Logue for her second score.

The score became 4-0 in the 29th minute. Argueta made her third goal with an assist from Eryn Decker.

Right before the end of the 1st half. A collision in the corner of the field resulted in a Yellow Card being pulled on a Lady Knight player. The result was a penalty kick made by Ashton Bruce to give the Lady Eagles a 5-0 halftime lead.

Argueta continued to impress the crowd with her ball handling skills in the second half. In the 47th minute of the game she weaved through several Lady Knights before launching another dart 10 yards into back of the net.

In the 52nd minute, instead of making the assist, Decker kicked a long, high floater that fell just under the crossbar and over the hands of Logue, into the net to make the score 7-0.

Less than a minute later Argueta concluded her senior night performance with another dazzling dribbling display between two Lady Knight defenders, then launched a rocket from 20 yards out to the corner of the net.

“Abriella is an extraordinary player,” Frost said. “She is talented. She has a lot of fundamental skills. She is a great leader on our team and has been for the four years she has been here.”
Megan Stith made the score 9-0 on a breakaway in which she beat Logue one-on-one in the 59th minute of the game.

The last goal by the Lady Eagles was made by Tennessee Barlow. She made a header off a corner kick in the 70th minute.
