Clarksville High School Wildcats see fourth-quarter lead slip away in Hall of Fame Game loss to Beech
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville High School boys basketball team picked a bad time to go almost two and a half minutes without a field goal, November 12th at William Workman Gymnasium, as Beech High School rallied for a four-point Hall of Fame Game victory over the Wildcats, 57-53.
Leading 46-45 following a basket by Tariq Silver with 4:07 to go in the game, Clarksville High (0-1) wouldn’t score again for the next 2:26, while the Buccaneers hit four of five free throws over that stretch to take the lead for good, 49-46.
Clarksville, TN – Sophomore Tiasha Gray hit a jumper with 1.5 seconds remaining to give Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team a 71-69 victory at Southern Illinois, Tuesday night, at SIU Arena.
Gray’s basket put a period on a game that was a see-saw affair throughout. The two teams battled through 19 ties and 16 lead changes in the contest.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s girls basketball team got into an early hole, November 12th in its Hall of Fame Game versus Beech High School at William Workman Gymnasium and never recovered, as the Lady Bucs hit five first-quarter, three-point field goals to its way to a 57-40 victory over the Lady Wildcats.
Falon Baker would hit four – all in a row — of the five first-quarter 3’s, as she led the way to the Lady Bucs (1-0) a 14-2 run over the final 3:25 of the opening quarter to break open a 8-7 advantage out to a 22-9 lead after the first eight minutes of play.

Clarksville, TN – Junior defender Shelby Olszewski, of Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Olszewski scored in both Lady Gov matches at the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, earning all-tournament honors after leading the sixth-seeded Lady Govs to the semifinals. She finished the season with six goals, the most by a predominantly defense-oriented player in Austin Peay history.
Clarksville, TN – The economic data surprised. Real GDP rose at a stronger-than-expected 2.8% annual rate in the advance estimate for 3Q13, but the figure was boosted by faster growth in inventories (which added 0.8 percentage point to GDP growth).
Consumer spending rose at a 1.5% annual rate, while business fixed investment rose 1.6% – nothing to write home about. The partial government shutdown had a mixed impact on the October employment figures.
Nonfarm payrolls rose by 204,000 (median forecast: +125,000), while August and September figures were revised a net +60,000.

Nashville, TN – This week the national spotlight descends upon Tennessee as the Titans (4-5) host the first-place Indianapolis Colts (6-3) on Thursday Night Football. Kickoff at LP Field (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for 7:25pm CST on Thursday, November 14th.
The two clubs are separated in the AFC South standings by two games. They play twice in the next three weeks, with the rematch scheduled for Sunday, December 1st at Indianapolis.
