Rossview High School Lady Hawks Win Home Opener 56-37 Against Gallatin Lady Green Wave

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – Senior Lady Hawk Janie White scored 27 points in the Lady Hawk’s home opening 56-37 victory over the Gallatin Lady Wave.

White was one of eight Lady Hawks to score in the game. The Hawks used their superior size to score primarily in the post and dominate the boards, creating second chance scoring opportunities.

“I thought we came out and set the tone early. We jumped on them with our pressure a little bit,“ Lady Hawks head coach Justin Woods said. “We were able to create the tempo that we wanted. We like to get up and down the floor. We were pitching the ball ahead and banging it inside, and the girls were finishing.”

The Lady Hawks out-rebounded the Lady Wave 30-17.

White had 6 rebounds and 2 blocks to go with her 27 points. Mickey Head had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Jemiah Harrison scored 4 points with 6 rebounds.

The Lady Hawks held the Lady Wave to 7 first half points and committed only six turnovers.

“We were getting good shots in the first half. I thought our pressure was good,“ Woods said. “We forced them into some bad shots. We were rebounding which allows us to run. We were doing some good things.”

After committing 14 turnovers in the first half, the Lady Wave came out in the second half taking care of the ball and making shots.

They opened the third period with a 10-0 run and outscored the Lady Hawks 19-8.

Aleria Duncan led the Wave with 11 points, all in the second half. Rene Hudson added 9 points.

“Second half, I think we relaxed a little bit,” Woods said. “They came out a little more aggressive. We were careless with the ball.”

The Lady Hawks committed 14 turnovers in the second half. Duncan hit a 3-pointer in the fourth period that brought the Lady Wave within ten, 41-31. However, that would be as close as the Wave would get to the Lady Hawks.

The Lady Hawks outscored the Wave 17-11 in the fourth period. They made 10 of 15 free throws in the second half.

“Its no secret our strength is in the post. I think we’ve got four that can really get it done,” Woods said. “Obviously Janie, she is a really good player. She makes things go for us.
