Clarksville High School Wildcats Lose Nail-Biter to Franklin Rebels 43-42

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – As the final seconds of the game ran of the clock, Clarksville High Wildcat Derek Suiter launched a 3-pointer to win the game, but it hit the rim and the Franklin High Rebels pulled down the rebound to win the game 43-42.

The game was a fast paced, back and forth battle that was tied 28-28 after three periods. Franklin Rebel Ben Hagaman scored 6 straight points at the beginning of the 4th period to give the Rebels a 34-28 lead.

From that point, the Rebels maintained at least a 4-point lead until Wildcat Jeff Webb made a 3-pointer with 6 seconds left in the game.

On the ensuing inbound pass, the Wildcats defensive pressure made the Rebels turnover the ball by fumbling it out of bounds. Wildcats head coach Ted Young called a timeout and the Wildcats were set up with the ball and a chance to win with 5 seconds left in the game.

Suiter had made two, 3-pointers previously in the game, the last one with 2:08 remaining. He finished the game with 6 points.

The Franklin Rebels made 11 of 24 free throws in the 4th period. They attempted 29 free throws in the second half of the game.

The Wildcats made four 3-pointers in the second half. They made 6 total from downtown in the game.

Both teams had active defenses and were evenly matched offensively. The 6-0 run in the beginning of the 4th period was the biggest run of the game.

Hagaman led the Rebels with 12 points. He scored all his points in the second half, providing an offensive spark in the post for the Rebels.

Tannis Spalding and Matt Hargreaves both scored 7 points. Spalding led the team with 7 rebounds.

JJ Jones scored 12 points for the Wildcats. Jones also pulled down 8 rebounds. Webb scored 8 and Teal Young added 7.

The Wildcats were called for 16 fouls in the second half, including two technical fouls. They shot 5of 10 from the free throw line in the second half and 8 of 16 for the game.
