Clarksville Parks and Recreation Wins Award for its First-ever Kids Triathlon

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department received a Four Star Award at the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association (TRPA) at this year’s state convention held in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Founded in 1952, the TRPA is a professional society of more than 1,200 individual and agency members interested in the recreation and parks movement in Tennessee. The TRPA is involved in lobbying, education and scholarships related to the field of parks and recreation.

During its annual conference, the TRPA awarded the department the Four Star Athletics Program Award for its Kids Triathlon. This award is given to the best athletics program designed to offer athletics/sports programs/activities to the public.

“What a nice honor for the Parks and Recreation Department, especially for a first time ever program,” said Mark Tummons, Parks and Recreation Director, “shows the hard work, dedication and planning of our Athletics staff. They, along with the citizens of Clarksville and our sponsors are to be commended for providing a fun, yet challenging fitness event for our youth. I know they are planning even greater things for next year.”
