Big second half by Haley Bearden, TaTayana Outlaw lead Clarksville High Lady Wildcats past Kenwood Lady Knights

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s Haley Bearden and TaTayana Outlaw combined for 25 of their 32 total points after halftime, December 10thin a District 10-AAA contest at William Workman Gymnasium, to lead the Lady Wildcats past Kenwood High School, 53-41.

Leading by one at halftime, 17-16, Outlaw kept the Lady Wildcats (2-5, 2-0 District 10-AAA) in front of the Lady Knights by scoring 10 of their first 12 points of the second half to give CHS a 29-27 lead, with 3:05 left in the third quarter.

A basket by Kenwood’s Katie Robards would get the Lady Knights (2-5, 1-1 District 10-AAA) back to within two, 29-27, Clarksville High get back-to-back buckets from Bearden and Ke’Oshea Deaver to go back up six before a Malia Umrani basket in the final 20 seconds cut the CHS lead to four points, 33-29 heading into the final quarter.

Clarksville High would blow the game open in the first three minutes of the final quarter, as they outscored the Lady Knights 9-2 over the first 3:10 of the period to go up 11 points, 42-31.

Kenwood would never get any closer than seven points the rest of the way, as Bearden and Outlaw scored eight of the Lady Wildcats final 11 points to finish out the 53-41 victory.

Bearden and Outlaw both finished with game-high 16 point nights.

In the first half both teams struggled to get on the board with Clarksville High finally breaking the scoring drought with a basket by Haley Bearden at the 5:42 mark.

The would be the first of three baskets by the Lady Wildcats, as they got out to a 6-0 lead before Kenwood’s Alonja Thomas’ two free throws, with 3:02 left in the quarter.

The two teams would trade baskets the rest of the opening quarter, with Clarksville High holding a three-point advantage after the first eight minutes of play, 9-6.

The second quarter would see the Lady Wildcats score the first five points of the period to build its lead out to eight points, 14-6, with 4:42 left before intermission.

Kenwood would follow with their best run of the first half, scoring seven straight points – starting with a three-point bucket from Analiese Osborne, at the 4:05 mark, followed by back-to-back shots from Thomas to make it 14-13 CHS with 2:48 left in the first half.

TaTayana Outlaw would hit one of two free throw attempts for Clarksville High to give them a 15-13 lead at the 2:24 mark, but Kenwood got a bucket from Umrani with 2:17 left in the second quarter to tie the game for the first time 15-15, with 2:17 left.

Clarksville High would get a basket from Aliyah Miller to retake the lead 17-15, but one of two free throws by the Lady Knights Osborne cut the CHE lead to one at intermission, 17-16.
