Chris Horton named Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Sophomore center Chris Horton, of Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Horton averaged 12 points and 9.5 rebounds in two contests last week, including his season’s fourth double-double, an 11-point, 10-rebound effort at Samford.

At 12.4 points and 10.0 rebounds through the season’s first nine games, Horton is one of just 29 Division I men’s players averaging a double-double this season.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included

Freshman forward Beth Rates, of the women’s basketball team, led the Lady Govs with 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench in Austin Peay’s road loss at Xavier, Saturday.

Junior sprinter Maikea Davis, of the track and field team, was runner-up in the 200m dash at the season-opening Middle Tennessee Christmas Invite, with a 25.02 mark that bested any run by a Lady Gov during the 2012-13 season.
