Alonja Thomas’ 30 points leads Kenwood High Lady Knights past West Creek

 

Kenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – Kenwood High School’s Alonja Thomas scored a game-high 30 points, December 13th, to lead the Lady Knights to a 69-60 District 10-AA victory over the West Creek Lady Coyotes.

Ten of Thomas’ 30 points came in the key third quarter, as Kenwood (3-5, 2-1 District 10-AAA) broke open a one-point contest at halftime, 31-30, out to a 49-38 advantage after three quarters of play.

Clarksville Police Department and Local Retail Personnel Collaborate to Deter and Investigate Thefts

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Wednesday, December 11th, 2013, the Clarksville Police Department’s (CPD) District 3 Criminal Investigations Unit met with Local Retail Personnel (LRP) about retail criminals and current retail crime trends. “Each year organized groups of professional shoplifters steal or fraudulently obtain billions of dollars in merchandise to resell in an activity known as organized retail crime (ORC)(gao.gov, 2014).” One of these rings can steal between $2,000 and $12,000 worth of merchandise in a single day, making this a $40 billion dollar a year industry for criminals.

Austin Peay State University Athletics has Fifteen students participate in December commencement

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Fifteen Austin Peay State University athletics alumni and student-athletes were scheduled to participate in Winter Commencement ceremonies, Friday, at the Dunn Center.

Dr. Bruce Myers, who was the 2013 APSU National Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award recipient and who serves as the Faculty Athletic Representative, served as commencement speaker.

APSU’s Omicron Delta Kappa honor society recognized as one of the top two chapters in the nation

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa was selected as the 2013 recipient of the ODK Presidential Award of Excellence.

Clarksville Police Department requests public assistance with Fort Campbell Boulevard Robbery

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On December 7th, 2013, the Clarksville Police Department reports that a white male entered the Boost Mobile  on Fort Campbell Boulevard and held his hand in his jacket, as if he had a weapon, demanding money.

The clerk gave him the money and he fled on foot. The suspect was approximately 5’8 with a black jacket over a black shirt.

Clarksville Police are looking for the suspect who robbed the Boost Mobile on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Queen City Road Race Art Contest underway

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Queen City Road Race Art Contest is underway for students in grades 1st through 5th.  Two semi-finalists from each participating school will be selected and awarded an art kit and certificate.

Among those semi-finalists will be the top three finalists who will also win a Subway party for their art class. As well as those prizes, the first place winning artist will win a framed poster of their artwork, an official race t-shirt featuring their artwork and $100.00 for their art class.

Montgomery Central Indians rally from 15 down to beat Clarksville Academy 48-47

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – A Justin Cowan layup in the final 15 seconds, followed with a blocked shot right before the final horn, sealed away a 15-point come-from-behind victory for Montgomery Central High School, December 12th at the Thomas-Young Gymnasium, as they edged Clarksville Academy, 48-47.

The Cowan layup for Montgomery Central (3-3) came after Clarksville Academy’s Thomas Jackson had given the Cougars the lead, 47-46 with 22.9 seconds left, after hitting on of two free throw attempts.
