December hasn’t been kind to the Lady Govs who have opened the month with three straight losses, including Saturday’s defeat at No. 7 Louisville.

The second half has bedeviled the Lady Govs during the month as they have shot just 29.8 percent, including a dismal 1-of-17 (5.9 percent) from three-point range.

Junior Kristen Stainback leads the Lady Govs in the three December contests with 32 points (10.7 ppg), making 14-of-34 (41.2 percent) from the floor. She led Austin Peay with a 14-point performance at Louisville, Saturday. Sophomore Jennifer Nwokocha has added 24 points, including her eight second-half points at Louisville.

Tiasha GrayAustin Peay’s roster is dominated by five sophomores and five freshman for the 2013-14 campaign. Three sophomores – guard Tiasha Gray and forwards Jennifer Nwokocha and Alexis Hardaway – dot the APSU starting five and the second-year quintet is contributing 28.7 points per game. Meanwhile, the five freshman are contributing 19.9 points per game.

Chattanooga has been on the road since November 29th when it played in Hawaii’s Thanksgiving Tournament. The Lady Mocs are 4-2 during their eight-game road trip, which includes a 68-53 win at Jacksonville State, December 10th.

Jennifer NwokochaUTC is 2-0 against OVC teams this season, with a 76-65 victory against Belmont, November 17th, joining the win against JSU. The Lady Mocs opened Southern Conference play with a Saturday win at UNC Greensboro and a Monday victory at Elon.

Chattanooga’s starting five has three seniors matched with two freshmen. Senior forward Taylor Hall leads the Lady Mocs in both scoring (13.9 ppg), rebounding (9.9 rpg), assists (4.5 apg) and steals (2.4 spg). However, Hall, who has six consecutive double-doubles entering Wednesday’s affair, only has been UTC’s leading scorer in four of its 10 games this season.
