Clarksville-Montgomery County under a Critical Fire Weather Watch for Tuesday, January 30th

National Weather ServiceClarksville, TN – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Fire Weather Watch for the Clarksville Montgomery County area for Tuesday from noon until 6:00pm.

A warming trend will begin on Thursday as strong south winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph bring high temperatures up into the 30s and 40s across Montgomery County.

With relative humidity levels falling into the 10 to 20 percent range in the afternoon along with recent cold and dry weather of the past week or two, fire danger levels will increase as conditions will become favorable for any fires that develop to grow and spread rapidly.

Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Red Flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
