Junior Erika Adams equaled the 55m dash record with a 7.05 mark, tying her with Sherlonda Johnson’s 2006 mark. She finished second, her season’s first runner-up mark in the 55m event.

The 4x400m relay squad of freshman Terri Morris, sophomores Breigh Jones and Kymmalett Ross and junior Maikea Davis broke a 13-year old record in the event, finishing third with a 3:47.04 mark. However, Tennessee State took runner-up in the event and with it, the top spot in the Ohio Valley Conference in the 4x400m in 2014.

“Erika did a fantastic job,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “I can’t say enough about how much she’s improved the last couple of years. As for the relay, we’re not done breaking that record this year. We’ve got a really good group that will go far.”

Senior Xiamar Hudson set a season-best in the mile run with a runner-up finish; her 5:09.29 mark was less than two seconds off the winning pace.

Reigning OVC Field Athlete of the Week Amia Butler shined in the field and on the track this week. In a return to her hometown, Butler placed third in the 55m hurdles with an 8.20 mark. She was also runner-up in the long jump with a personal-best 5.96m leap.

A pair of Lady Gov freshmen posted top-five finishes in the jumps. Brianna Kelly placed fourth in the high jump with a personal-best 1.68m, while Ashleigh Woods was fifth in the triple jump with a personal-best 11.70m leap.

Senior Molly Basch had a season-best fifth-place finish in the pole vault with a 3.11m height.

Another weekend, another solid performance,” Molnar said. “We keep improving up and down the line. I can’t say enough about this team, they keep working hard and good things happen.”

Austin Peay’s indoor season continues next weekend with a return trip to Southern Illinois at the SIU Invitational, February 7th-8th.
