West Creek Lady Coyotes Escape Northeast Lady Eagles 63-57

West Creek High School Coyotes - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Down 53-38, the Northeast Lady Eagles made four, 3-pointers on their way to 19 points in the final period. But it was not enough to catch the West Creek Lady Coyotes who earned the District 10-AAA win, 63-57.

The Lady Coyotes hit the court running.

Taking advantage of the Lady Eagles 14 turnovers, the Lady Coyotes outscored the Lady Eagles 34-21 in the first half.

However, in the second half it was the Lady Coyotes who failed to take care of the ball. Ten Lady Coyote turnovers helped the Lady Eagles close the gap by outscoring the Lady Coyotes 36-29 in the second half.

Lady Eagle Jazzmyn Simpson made a 3-pointer with 21 seconds remaining in the game to bring the Lady Eagles within three, 60-57.

On the ensuing inbounds play the Lady Coyotes broke the Lady Eagles full court trap with well executed passing and extended their lead to five, 62-57, with a layup by Allah McPhaul.

The Lady Eagles committed fouls hoping to secure missed free throws and score. Instead it was the Lady Coyotes who crashed the boards when it counted most, eliminating the Lady Eagles chances to score.

Simpson led all scorers with 16 points.

Eight different Lady Coyotes scored in the game. Ariana Prather led the team with 11 points. LaToya Winters and Shayla Smith both scored 10 points. Smith also pulled down 8 rebounds.

Behind Simpson, Sepe Moore scored 12 for the Lady Eagles. Erecha Partis added 10. Nataszja Freeman was the top rebounder with 10 boards.

The win improves the Lady Coyotes District 10-AAA record to 11-2, behind only the undefeated Rossview Lady Hawks. The Lady Eagles fall to 4-9 in the conference.
