Clarksville, TN – Head coach Kirby Cannon is hopeful his first Austin Peay State University recruiting class will be remembered as the one that helped turnaround the Governors football fortunes.
As of Wednesday, the Governors will enter the 2014 season with 29 new faces on an ever-changing roster. That class could expand in coming days.
Clarksville High Lady Wildcat Amber Colvin Signs With Mississippi College Lady Choctaws on National Signing Day
Clarksville, TN – Lady Wildcat senior soccer player Amber Colvin signed her intent to play with the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws in Clinton, Mississippi on National Signing Day at Clarksville High School.
Colvin was one of three Clarksville High seniors signing their commitment to college programs on National Signing Day at Clarksville High School. She was the only soccer player.
Colvin played under current Clarksville High soccer head coach Jeff Jordan for 2 years and scored over 60 goals. She was part of the Lady Wildcat teams that won back-to-back District 10-AAA Titles as well as back-to-back Region 5-AAA titles.
National Weather Services issues Weather Alert as light snow and flurries fall across Clarksville-Montgomery County, Middle Tennessee
Clarksville, TN – The National Weather Service reports light snow and flurries continue to affect portions of Clarksville Montgomery County as well as Middle Tennessee this evening.
Reports indicate a dusting of snow has fallen on roadways across northern Middle Tennessee including in Clarksville and Springfield.
Clarksville High Wildcat Football Players Bruno Reagan and Eyan Pope Sign Commitments on National Signing Day
Clarksville, TN – On National Signing day senior football players Eyan Pope and Bruno Reagan signed their commitments to play at the collegiate level in front of friends and family at Clarksville High School.
“It has been a blast just seeing them come in to workouts everyday, wanting to get better, wanting to get stronger,“ former Clarksville High football head coach Ken Busbee said. “Hopefully this rubs off on some of the others. It has just been a blast watching them come in and compete everyday.”
Clarksville, TN – Sophomore guard Tiasha Gray, of the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named this week’s Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Gray averaged 19.5 points off the bench in two Lady Gov victories last week, solidifying Austin Peay’s hold on second place in the Ohio Valley Conference’s West Division. She shot 41.9 percent (13-for-31) from the field, and 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from the free-throw line.

Clarksville Police, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Checkpoints/Saturation Patrols and DUI Blitz Operation Statistics during 2014 Super Bowl Weekend
Clarksville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol, Clarksville Police Department, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office conducted checkpoints and impaired driving saturation patrols January 31st, February 1st, and February 2nd, 2014, partially funded by the Governor’s Highway Safety Office.
Also, the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission was involved in the DUI Blitz Operation in Montgomery County.
