Rossview High Lady Hawks wrap-up second straight District 10-AAA regular-season title

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – Needing a win to wrap-up its second straight outright District 10-AAA regular-season title, February 4th, the Rossview High Lady Hawks got out early on Kenwood High and never looked back, as they came away with a 69-37 victory.

Rossview (19-2, 13-0 District 10-AAA) had already earned at least a share of the regular-season title, but still had to come up with a win versus the Lady Knights or a win over West Creek High School — the number-two team in the district standings on February 7th — for the outright title.

The Lady Hawks would start out the night by scoring the first five points of the contest, before Kenwood (11-13, 8-5 District 10-AAA) would get on the board with a bucket by Katie Robards, at the 5:15 mark.

Robards led Kenwood with 12 points.

Janie White – who finished with 14 points — would score back-to-back baskets for Rossview, but Kenwood hung tough early getting two buckets from Alonja Thomas, to give the Lady Hawks a 9-6 lead with 3:38 left in the opening quarter.

But Kenwood wouldn’t tally another point in the opening stanza, while Rossview closed out the period on a 10-0 run to go up 19-6 at the end of the quarter.

The Lady Knights would try to stay within reach of Rossview early-on in the second quarter, getting five straight points from Analiese Osborne, to keep it a 10-point game, 21-11, with 5:30 left in the opening half.

But Rossview just had to much offensive firepower, as they scored the next five points to go up by 15, 26-11, with 3:53 left, with Kenwood never getting any closer than 12 points the rest of the opening half.

The second half would see Rossview put the game out of reach of the Lady Knights in the first five minutes of the third quarter, as the Lady Hawks opened the half with an 11-4 run to extent its lead out to 19 points, 43-24.

White and Mickey Head would combine to score all 11 points during that key opening run of the second half.

Kenwood never got any closer than 16 points the rest of the way, trailing by 20 points at the end of the third quarter, 51-31, before the Lady Hawks closed out the game by outscoring the Lady Knights 18-6 over the final eight minutes of play for the 69-37 final.

Both teams wrap-up district play on February 7th, with Rossview traveling to West Creek and Kenwood making the trek over to Northeast High School. Both games are 6:00pm starts.
