Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: 36th Annual Queen City Road Race, Clarksville Downtown Market Applications Available Soon, Discover Scuba and Wettest Egg Hunt.

36th Annual Queen City Road Race

It’s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 36th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd.

Registration for the Queen City Road Race is simple. Those registering in the 7K and the 5K may do so online or in person. Online registration can be completed by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr .

Register now to receive the “early bird” rate of only $20.00 through April 18th. After that date, you may register until the day of the race, but the cost is $25.00. Participants in the One Mile Movement can register online at www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr, by mail or in person at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation office at 102 Public Square, Clarksville, Tennessee, 37040.

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 7K and 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Foy Center, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus.

For over thirty years, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell school students, teachers and family members have participated in this Clarksville tradition.

Clarksville Downtown Market Applications Available Soon

Clarksville Downtown MarketVendors, it is almost time to start applying for this year’s season of the Clarksville Downtown Market! Beginning February 24th, vendor applications will be available at the main office downtown or online at www.clarksvilledowntownmarket.com.

The Clarksville Downtown Market is host to many different types of homemade and homegrown products. The market will take place every Saturday from 8:00am-1:00pm, May 24th-October 18th on Public Square.

Discover Scuba

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceNow through May 3rd, the Indoor Aquatic Center is hosting an instructional class that gives the overview of the scuba experience! Participants will also learn what is involved in Scuba Certification. Tanks, masks, and fins are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Class is approximately one hour per participant.

Classes are held the first Saturday of each month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and the third Thursday of each month from 5:00pm to 8:00pm for ages 10+.

Wettest Egg Hunt

2014 Wettest Egg HuntCome join the fun at the Indoor Aquatic Center for your NOT so typical egg hunt April 12th! Eggs will be floating or sunk to the bottom of the pool where you will be able to swim out and collect as many eggs as you can.

You’ll even be able to visit with the Easter Bunny and enjoy refreshments!
