The Govs come in ranked 72nd in Division I, the only Ohio Valley Conference school among the top-75 and the first ITA ranking in Austin Peay men’s tennis history.

Even without senior Jasmin Ademovic the past two matches, the Govs have continued their early-season success reminiscent of last season, when Austin Peay won 14 of its first 16 matches. That run was the precursor to Austin Peay’s first men’s tennis championship since 1974.

“I don’t think we’re at the mountaintop, but but we’re working hard and moving in the right direction,” said head coach Ross Brown. “I feel good for these guys to get a little recognition, but the most important thing will be what happens during conference play.”

Junior Aleksas Tverijonas has started out hot again this season, winning his first six matches after starting last year by winning 15 matches in a row. Junior Dimitar Ristovski won both his matches at No. 1 last weekend after taking over for the hobbled Ademovic.

The Govs return to action this weekend for a Saturday contest at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY.
