APSU Baseball hosting Akron and Milwaukee this weekend at Raymond C. Hand Park

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team will have a busy weekend as it will host Akron and Milwaukee during a three-game weekend stint. The Govs will begin the weekend with a 5:00pm contest in Columbia, Tennessee. where they will host Akron due to unplayable field conditions at home.

However, the Govs expect to be able to return to Raymond C. Hand Park for 3:30pm contests both Saturday and Sunday against Milwaukee.

In addition, Akron and Milwaukee will square off in noon contests Saturday and Sunday.

After a 1-6 start to the season, Austin Peay has won 3 of their last 4 games. Catcher P.J. Torres led the Govs with a .375 batting average and 1.000 slugging percentage last week as 5 of his 6 hits went for extra bases.

Right fielder Rolando Gautier batted .368 as the Govs leadoff hitter and was the only hitter to record a hit in all four games this past weekend.

This season, APSU was picked to finish 2nd in the OVC preseason poll behind Tennessee Tech.

Right-hander Ryan Quick will make his second start as the Govs No. 1 after posting a victory in that spot against Dayton last week. Quick struck out 5 and walked none in the 6-inning outing in which he allowed four runs on eight hits.

Righty Alex Robles will get the nod in the weekend’s second game, where he has pitched in each of the season’s first 3 weeks. Robles earned his season’s first win last week against Bradley, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings, striking out four.

Left-hander Levi Primasing will move into the No. 3 role for this weekend’s series. He earned a win in his first start, holding Eastern Michigan to two runs in his first collegiate start, February 25th.
