Clarksville City Saver presented a $200,000 check on Saturday to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation

Clarksville City SaverClarksville-Montgomery County Education FoundationClarksville, TN – Clarksville City Saver officials presented a check on Saturday to the Clarksville/Montgomery County Education Foundation for $200,000 for their part in the recent system-wide coupon book fundraiser. This is the third year that City Saver and the Education Foundation have partnered on this project to help local schools.

During the four-week campaign, Clarksville/Montgomery County schools sold the Clarksville City Saver coupon book, which contains thousands of dollars in savings at over 200 local favorite restaurants, attractions and retail stores.

The 344-page book sold for $20.00 and includes dozens of buy one, get one free and 50% off discounts and the coupons do not expire until February 1st, 2015. For every book sold, $10.00 will go directly back to the individual school and $2.00 will go to the Clarksville/Montgomery County Education Foundation.

“This fundraiser served as a way to get the whole community involved in supporting our schools. It allowed us to provide discounts to Clarksville families, free advertising for local businesses, additional funds to our schools and fun prizes for our students. It was a win, win for everyone involved, says Candy Johnson, Foundation Executive Director. “We look forward to working with City Saver in the future and continue finding creative ways to bring in supplemental funds for schools and foundation programs. “We are so grateful for all of the businesses that continued to support our efforts this year!”

The mission of the Education Foundation is to support the improvement of public education by providing the Clarksville/Montgomery County School System additional funding for the support of programs and initiatives that contribute to student achievement.

“We are very excited about the continued success of this campaign,” says Tom Beach, CEO of City Saver. “We are so proud of the 200 local businesses that stepped up once again to support their local schools by participating in the book, as well as all of the students who worked hard to sell the books and raise money for their school.”

A mega party with food, games and prizes was also held today at the Austin Peay State University Foy Center to celebrate the success of the campaign. Over 500 local students earned the chance to come to the party by selling at least seven of the coupon books during the campaign. Local magician Russ Nowack from Hocus Pocus Entertainment was on hand doing tricks and making balloon animals for the children. Orr’s Bouncing Fun owned by Matt St. Martin and Stephanie Sharp provided the inflatable’s. Games on Wheel provided laser tag equipment as well as a mobile video game trailer.
