Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will close one eastbound and westbound lane of I-40 near Jefferson Street in Nashville this weekend to install a containment system for future sandblasting and painting of the bridge.
Beginning Friday March 21st at 9:00pm through Monday March 24th at 5:00am there will be lane closures on I-40 eastbound and westbound between mile marker 206 (I-440/I-40 split) and mile marker 208 (I-65-I-40 split).
The on-ramps to I-40 from Jefferson Street and the on-ramp to I-40 from 28th Avenue will also be closed.
The closures are part of an ongoing $2.2 million bridge repair project on I-40 over Jefferson Street.
The project, which began in October 2013, is scheduled to be completed later this summer.
Information about this weekend’s closure will be posted on portable messages boards in the area. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and seek alternate routes. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
