In addition to host Vanderbilt, the Lady Govs will see a host of similarly-skilled mid-majors such as Lipscomb, Ohio, Western Kentucky and Missouri State. Also in attendance will be student-athletes from Ohio Valley Conference foes Belmont, Murray State and Tennessee Tech.

While last week’s meet at Ole Miss was not scored, Austin Peay turned some heads by knocking off three school records and recording a handful of individual wins.

None was more impressive than the 4x100m relay victory; the quartet of Breigh Jones, Kymmalett Ross, Erika Adams and Maikea Davis – none a senior – broke a 14-year old school record with a race-winning 45.78 mark. Jones, freshman Kaylnn Pitts and the 4x400m relay team also picked up wins, while Davis (200m dash) and senior Kendra Kirksey (3000m steeplechase) each setting the standard for Austin Peay excellence.

Last season, Chantelle Gray won the 800m run and the 4x400m team was runner-up at this event. It also jump-started junior Natalie Olberding’s campaign; her eighth-place performance in her first outdoor event as a Lady Gov got momentum going for the Iowan, who wound up winning silver at the OVC Outdoor Championships.

The Lady Govs travel to Murray, KY next weekend for the first of two events hosted by Murray State at the Martha Simmons Invitational, April 4th.
