Nashville, TN – A handful of top-five finishes provided Austin Peay State University with a strong Day One result at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold, Friday.
Junior Maikea Davis won the 200m dash, with sophomore Kymmalett Ross finishing second.
Davis was just off her school-record mark, set last week, with a 24.35 mark, while Ross’ runner-up 24.49 was a personal-best. Freshman Terri Morris was also impressive with a seventh-place, personal-best 25.12 mark.In triple jump action, a pair of freshmen put up top-five marks. Kaylnn Pitts’ personal-best 12.52m (41’ 1”) mark was good enough for runner-up honors, while Ashleigh Woods wasn’t far behind her with a 12.07m (39’ 7.25”) leap.
“Solid opening for us,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “We had lots of personal-bests on the first day. We’re off and running, hope to see the same tomorrow.”
