Clarksville High baseball closes out Invitational with 8-5 win over Boyd-Buchanan

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsChattanooga, TN – Clarksville High School’s baseball team bounced back from its first loss of the season to defeat Boyd-Buchanan High School 8-5, March 29th, to close out play in the Central Invitational.

The Wildcats (12-1) had to rally for the victory, trailing the Buccaneers 4-3 heading into the top of the fifth inning, but exploded for five runs to take the lead for good.

Clarksville High pounded out nine hits in the win, including four doubles, led by Ryan Streeter’s 3-for-3 effort.

Rough and Tough Hiking Tour to Virgin Falls, April 12th from 7:00am to 6:00pm. For ages 12 and up. The cost is $30.00 and this includes your transportation. This is the second of a series of hikes designed to get adventurous souls out into some of the most wild and beautiful country in this area. These are strenuous hikes over rough terrain. APSU’s 20th Annual Governors Bass Tournament at Paris Landing to be held May 10th, 2014

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – The 20th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just over a month away.

This year’s edition will be held Saturday, May 10th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park. Last season’s tourney drew 282 boats—14 more than in 2012, despite entrants being forced to utilize the back entrance because of flooding.

Tennessee Department of Health says wearing Helmets Saves Lives and Money

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – Traumatic brain injury can occur as a result of any head injury. Whether it is a fall from a bicycle or a motorcycle crash, a sports concussion or a head trauma to one of our brave veterans from an explosion on the battlefield, the delicate brain can suffer significant after affects. Many of these injuries can be prevented.

During observances of Brain Injury Awareness Month, the Department of Health is reminding Tennesseans of the importance of wearing helmets while riding motorcycles and bicycles to help prevent brain injuries. Tennessee ranks number six in the nation for lives saved and economic costs saved due to helmet use, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. «Read the rest of this article»

More Than $15.1 Million in Water and Wastewater Construction Loans Awarded in Tennessee

 

Low-Interest Loans Help Fund Infrastructure Improvements

Tennessee Department of Environment and ConservationNashville, TN –  Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Bob Martineau on Wednesday announced that five communities, two utility districts and two water/wastewater authorities have been approved to receive more than $15.1 million in low-interest loans for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team got a huge boost with its 5-2 Ohio Valley Conference win, Saturday, at the APSU Tennis Center, moving back above .500 in league play and improving their chances for not just a berth in April’s OVC Tournament, but also a crucial first-round bye in the six-team tournament.
