The 36-hole event (36 holes Monday, 18 Tuesday) will be played on a par-72, 6,027-yard layout at the Country Club established in 1913.

The first-year tourney will display an eight-team field, including Ohio Valley Conference foes Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois.

In addition to host Western Kentucky, the field also will consist of Northern Kentucky, Dayton, Cincinnati and Siena.

APSU has travel to Florida twice during the spring season, sandwiched around a visit to Sevierville. The Lady Govs hope being a little closer to home will help spur their play and scoring.  The Lady Govs finished 15th last week in the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational.  On the final day, APSU was just 8-over par through 14 holes before finishing with a 320 after their short game abandoned it down the stretch.

“We are excited to be playing close to home and looking forward to some good golf,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “We have spent the end of this week focusing on short games.

“We, as a team, played 14 amazing holes our last round out (in Florida). However, it will be important to stay focused and finish this week.  We need to play our last four or five holes with the same determination and focus as the first 14 and not try and save a score or not mess up a score.  Keeping the same tempo, timing, focus and aggressiveness for an entire 18-hole round is very important and our goal this week.”

Robson will use the same lineup as the one in Ocala, FL. Sophomore Jessica Cathey, who shot a final-round 2-over 74, will lead the Lady Govs in Bowling Green.  Seniors Tala Mumford and Rachel Deaton along with the freshmen Morgans—Kauffman and Gardner—will round out the lineup.

Junior Meghan Mueller and freshmen Amber Bosworth and Kelsey Schutt will play as individuals.
