Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Summer Program Guides Available May 1st, Lifeguards Wanted, 36th Annual Queen City Road Race – May 3rd, Youth Archery, 50 Plus Olympics Registration Ends May 5th, and 2014 Movies in the Park 2014 season.

Summer Program Guides Available May 1st

Interested in learning more about what Clarksville Parks and Recreation offers? Grab our quarterly program guide to find out about leagues, special events, how to rent our facilities and so much more. Program guides are free and can be picked up at any of our facilities.

Lifeguards: Wanted!

We are still in need for our Summer Pool Season! Clarksville Parks & Recreation will even help you get your lifeguard certification, but you must act fast. The last lifeguard class will be held May 5th-10th. Visit the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Main Office (102 Public Square) or the Indoor Aquatic Center (166 Cunningham Lane) to complete an application.

36th Annual Queen City Road Race – May 3rd

The Queen City Road Race is not just a running competition; it is a promotion for fitness and health in the Clarksville community. This year’s race includes the 5K race, non-competitive One Mile Movement, and 7K race!  Registration for the 5K, 7K and One Mile Movement is available through Race Day at www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr.

Youth Archery

A few spots remain for Youth Archery at the Crow Community Center. This basic archery course, teaches the basics of the sport to youth ages 9+. This program will be held on Fridays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, May 2nd-23rd.

50 Plus Olympics Registration Ends May 5th

Be sure and register for the 2014 50 Plus Olympics! Registration is $25.00 per participant. This event is open to those at least 50-years-old and will take place at various locations in Clarksville, May 13th-17th.

You don’t have to be a pro to compete! Competitors can enjoy bowling, table tennis, pickleball, badminton, horseshoes, shuffleboard, swimming, track & field events, and more!  Competitors can also enjoy a delicious and fun meal at the closing dinner!

Movies in the Park 2014 season to kick off May 10th

Movies in the Park, the City’s free, outdoor movie series, will kick off its ninth season, Saturday, May 10th, at Heritage Park. Movies begin at dusk and admission is free. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs, as well as your appetite, since food vendors will be on-site. Arrive early to get a good seat and to participate in our pre-movie activities, which begin one-hour prior to each movie. Sorry, no pets or smoking allowed.
