“This year was better than anything last year. The teams really stepped it up a notch. The chicken and ribs were great. It was really tough this year to figure who the winner was because it was really close. They were all good,” said Russell Blake. “This is a great event for people to come out to. There’s good BBQ here to buy. It’s just a great event.”

“I’ve been judging every year since they’ve started the event. This year, all the entries were exceptional,” stated Dalton Harrison Montgomery County Commissioner. “In the past you would have one that was real good, some that were mediocre and maybe one that wasn’t so good. But this year, every one of the were good. It was close. I’m interested in seeing them total it up and see who won.”

“Plenty of good food, good times, good comradery and good fellowship with neighbors is what community is all about. I just appreciate Hilltop for doing this. They are a very community minded business. I know the family well and they do a good job out here bringing the community together. You just cant say enough about businesses and individuals willing to do that,” said Fuson.

“I think the competition went really well. I think we had our best group of barbecuers ever. They came from all over Tennessee and Kentucky. They had some real nice setups. I think this was the best competition we’ve ever had. All the plates, all the categories were pretty even across the board. They all looked great and everything tasted great.
