Velez Homer One Of Only Two Nashville Hits In Contest
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds were limited to a season-low two hits by three Oklahoma City hurlers in a 4-2 loss to the RedHawks on Thursday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.
Oklahoma City starter Nick Tropeano (2-3) allowed only one hit over his six innings of work, a two-run Eugenio Velez homer, to pick up the win for the visitors.
Rhiner Cruz followed with two hitless frames before Kevin Chapman gave up a Caleb Gindl single in the ninth but successfully worked out of a first-and-third, two-out jam to pick up his second save of the year.
Clarksville, TN – Rossview High School’s Kevin Kane pitched and hit his way into the programs baseball lore on May 15th, as he pitched and hit the Hawks past District 10-AAA regular-season and tournament champion Clarksville High School to win the school’s first Region 5-AAA title, 5-1.
With the victory, Rossview (24-12-1) will host Ravenwood High School May 16th in one half of the TSSAA Sectional tournament, while Clarksville High will travel to Brentwood High School in the other Sectional matchup. Both games start at 7:00pm.

Austin Peay State University Golf’s Marco Iten sits tied for fourth after Day 1 of NCAA Auburn Regional

Auburn, AL – If Austin Peay State University senior Marco Iten could throw out holes No. 9 and 18, he would be sitting alone atop the leaderboard at the NCAA Auburn Regional.
But even with a double bogey on the front nine’s final hole and a bogey on the course’s final hole, Iten is tied for fourth after Thursday’s Day 1 of the regional, being played at the Auburn University Club.

Clarksville, TN – Everybody is back for Austin Peay State University track and field at this weekend’s Georgia Tech Invitational. All 13 student-athletes who competed at the Georgia Invitational last weekend will be back in action this weekend at George C. Griffin Track in Atlanta, GA.
Clarksville, TN – Today, May 15th, 2014, the Clarksville Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Peay State University Police and Fort Campbell Police Departments joined together with Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Assistant District Attorney Dan Brollier to honor the memories of fallen law enforcement officers and deputies.
