Clarksville, TN – With the new Governors Stadium starting to take shape on the campus of Austin Peay State University, and it just being a little more than three months until the first home game, sells and interest in season football tickets are starting to pick up.
“We’ve gotten a lot of really good responses and a lot of good feedback,” said APSU Governors Club and ticketing manager Janet Wilson. “Everybody is really interested in the club level seating and suites – but those (suites) are sold out so it’s been go pretty well.”
But even with the solid start with the sold out luxury suites, the ticket sales of the club level and general admission are just getting ready to hit its stride.
“We have in total about 400 seats in the club level and we’re about a quarter of the way there (in sales), but we really haven’t actively tried to sell them yet,” Wilson said. “So far it’s been by word of mouth if someone has bought tickets and told his friends to see if they were interested in buying tickets, or if they were interested in the sold out suite level being now interested in the club level seating.
“We’re reaching out to Governors Club members and business owners along with our fans who’ve already bought tickets to talk to their friends and let them know about tickets. We want them get in touch with us, or get their information back to us if they’re interested, so we can inform them about the different seating we have available. If we don’t have their information we can’t get in touch with them.”
You can also get a little bit closer look at the club level seating at Governors Stadium, with tours being set up over the summer so fans can see where they will be sitting or get a better idea where they may want to sit.
“We are doing tours of the club level area every Monday throughout the summer,” Wilson said. “We had our first tour two weeks, ago prior to Memorial Day, and it went really well. This upcoming Monday we probably have 10 tours scheduled for the entire day, so it’s looking pretty good.
“We’re almost to the point where people, if you’ve purchased a club seat, can look at choosing where you’ll be sitting – or at least give some indications of interest on where you want to be sitting. We want our fans to be able to go up there and get a look, to get a chance to sit in the chairs that they will be sitting in. It’s really just going to add another level and way to watch the game.”
“Every club level seat is covered, but you can also come inside and watch the game from the inside on televisions,” Wilson said. “It will also be catered with light snacks and non-alcoholic drinks through the game for all club level purchasers. There are a lot of good features.
“We also have general seating and we want fill those seats also. We want to have a full stadium and welcome everybody. I think we’ll have a lot to look forward to.”
Also with the Chattanooga contest, the Govs will host Ohio Valley Conference opponents Eastern Kentucky University (October 4th), Murray State University (October 18th), Tennessee State University (November 8th) and Tennessee Tech University (November 22nd) in the new Governors Stadium this season.
