Fort Campbell, KY – The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Pfc. Matthew H. Walker, 20, of Hillsboro, Missouri, died June 5th in Paktika province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by enemy fire.
Among Walker’s awards and decorations are the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one bronze service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
