Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Athletic Department website will be undergoing a change, in less than 10 days, to help give Governors fans a better window into their favorite sport or sports, while also keeping up with multi-media access to the teams home or away.
The change is another part of the department’s resent rebranding, while also allowing the site to better interact with the Ohio Valley Conference website, while also giving better access to fans mobile devices with updated information displays.
“So it’s just not because of the rebranding alone, but also the chance to have our fans and alumni get more and better access from our website when it launches later this month.”
This is the fourth time the department has changed its website since beginning from an in-house site about 10 years ago, before moving to a profession site designer.
“I’m calling this new version of the department’s website a 4.0 version,” Bush said. “We had been using New Lion for the past few years, but this website will be build out by Sidearm Sports – the same company that the OVC uses for its website and digital network – along with several other schools in the OVC.
“Sidearm brings a lot of things to the table like allowing us to integrate OVC Digital Network a lot more in co-website, which will allow our fans to come to our website click on link and get right to live video from our website. That was a big factor in moving to Sidearm.”
With more and more sports being able to be televised around the conference the digital network access and ability to get the access information and video to different mobile devices was paramount.
“Along with easier access to more digital content, fans will be able to listen to Govs football, basketball and baseball from any of their mobile devices at home or on the road traveling, something we weren’t able to do with our old website providers.
“We will also be moving our live stats to another company, it won’t be Sidearm but the company that we’ve been using for our media to see live stats, so now all our fans will be able to see live stats from any mobile device, or home computer as well. We just want to give out fans as many options as we can to see Austin Peay in enhance the connection between our fans and the teams.”
“We have 15 sports in our department with data that goes back to 2002 with our first website,” he said. “When we launch, we will have probable 90 percent of where we think we should be. “There will still be things that will be need to be fixed, because you never find all the problems until you launch the site and everyone gets on it and sees the little mistakes here and there.
“But I do think as we move forward with the site and continue to add data and fix any mistakes our fans, each time they visit, should be able to find something new on the website.”
The new website is schedule to launch June 25th.
